We recently sat down with the mastermind behind renowned artisanal bakery Bakehouse and former Executive Pastry Chef at Four Seasons Hong Kong, Mr. Grégoire Michaud, to discuss all things pastry. A talented chef, entrepreneur and comedian, Mr. Michaud really made an impression on us so we thought we’d get the scoop on his favourite hang-out spots and eateries in Hong Kong. Follow Mr. Michaud’s 24-hour culinary journey and see how he prefers to eat his way through Hong Kong in his personalized travel itinerary of Hong Kong.

 

7AM: Waking up with proper coffee at Page148

 

8:30AM: Stroll down Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui to the Star Ferry to cross the Victoria Harbour over to the hip and happening Wan Chai district. Wan Chai district is often regarded by locals as a party district lined with bars and clubs, but it is so much more. The dim sum restaurants, historical temples, and beautiful trails up to the lush mountains of the city  provide a diverse range of activities for you to try

 

9:30AM: Indulge in delectable fresh pastries for breakfast at Bakehouse, Grégoire’s renowned hip and artisanal bakery. In this urban chic bakery, you can find everything from sourdough breads to pastries & tarts, along with its weekend brunch that will satisfy all your carb cravings

 

Head on over to Grégoire’s hit bakery and restaurant Bakehouse in Wan Chai, for some truly delectable fresh pastries. On that note, be prepared to wait in queue for Saturday brunch because it is just that good!

 

11:30AM: Travel in style by catching the tramway towards Sheung Wan, cruising through the concrete jungle of skyscrapers

 

12PM: Wander the streets and discover Chinese medicine ingredients and the local wet market. We suggest you try one of the strong, natural herbal teas in Hong Kong which is said to cure all your ailments and sooth your body

 

1PM: Take the MTR to the Jordan district for lunch by heading to Mak Man Kee Noodle Shop

 

1:30PM: Arrive at Mak Man Kee Noodle Shop for a fresh bowl of wonton noodles. Within walking distance from Page148, this traditional Michelin Guide Guangdong restaurant specialises in wonton noodles. Grégoire claims that the wonton noodles at this local joint is the best in Hong Kong

 

2PM: If you are still hungry, head on over to 圓方餃子粥麵 in Sham Shui Po (also referred to as Yuen Fong Dumplings in English) which Grégoire himself recommends to try their mouth-watering pan-fried dumplings

 

3PM: With all this walking and eating, pamper yourself with a foot massage at Taipan Reflexology Parlour. From Foot Massage and Head & Shoulder Release to Acupuncture Body Massage, get ready for a full-on zen experience

 

4PM: After an hour of bliss, head over to The Best Tea House on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui to do some souvenir shopping (They also have locations in Tai Koo and Lai Chi Kok). We promise you’ll find some great gifts for friends and loved ones

 

6PM: If you’re visiting between April and October, go and catch your dinner in Sai Kung by squid fishing! Known for its wide selection of famous seafood restaurants, quaint fishing villages, and hiking paths, this peninsula is every urban explorer’s dream getaway. For the squid fishing tours, be sure to ask the Concierge at Page Hotels to arrange a booking for you on a charter boat

 

8PM: Dinner Time! Head on over to North Point Municipal Cooked Food Court in the North Point district to the famous Tung Po restaurant to try some delectable dishes, particularly the Salted Duck Egg Yolk Shrimp and the Razor Clams Steamed with Chopped Garlic and Chinese Wine. Grégoire attests that the “dai pai dong” restaurant may seem shocking to some as you sit on stools and drink beer from porcelain bowls, but it is all part of the dining experience. The ingredients are always fresh and tastes delectable!

 

9:30PM: After dinner, take the MTR back to Tsim Sha Tsui district to burn off the heavy meal with an evening stroll along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade to catch a glimpse of the Hong Kong skyline at night. Then slowly head back to Page148 for a very well-deserved night of sleep!
