Finding that peaceful escape from the city may be closer than you think. Whisk away to the picture-perfect seaside of Sai Kung, where you will discover one of its succulent culinary gems – Chuen Kee Seafood Restaurant.

Michelin Guide Restaurant Chuen Kee Seafood Restaurant Is Everything You Need

Situated directly right in front of the ocean in Sai Kung district, Chuen Kee Seafood Restaurant not only boasts an incredible seascape view of the golden hour, but they also pride themselves in being one of the freshest, most delectable restaurant on the block and in all of Hong Kong, for that matter. The long-established restaurant cannot be missed, with gigantic transparent tanks filled with larger-than-life swimming fishes located at the front entrance and dangling flashy red lanterns that cleverly capture the attention of passersby. At this renowned restaurant, diners can pick their own seafood from the tanks filled with a wide array of living crustaceans, fish and molluscs.

From cuttlefish, bivalve, crab and lobster to mollusc, shrimps and prawns, diners can choose what they like and the kitchen staff will then prepare the seafood accordingly. As shown below, you can select the type of seafood you want fresh from the tanks and the chef will then work his magic to cook up a truly delectable dish using fresh local ingredients like onion and chives to create a dish that is delicious whilst maintaining the natural flavours of the sea. Seen here is some freshly steamed prawns with a side of chilli soya sauce for dipping.

You cannot go wrong with any item you pick on the menu, but we particularly adore the Steamed Scallops bathed in a deliciously sweet soy sauce, topped with vermicelli, garlic and spring onion.

Unfortunately, there is no MTR station near Sai Kung district so you will have to either take a taxi to Sai Kung district or opt for the bus or mini bus. You can take the MTR to Hang Hau MTR Station and from there, take the 101 mini bus to Sai Kung district. Once you arrive at Sai Kung district, you can walk to the Sai Kung Public Pier and Chuen Kee Seafood Restaurant should be on the right side of the pier if you are facing the ocean. It will be about a 3 minute walk from the pier and you should see the restaurant on your right-hand side.
